The Conceptual Model
All effective testing and evaluation systems must be built on the firm foundations of a conceptual model. A model which accurately describes how the process being evaluated works, so that meaningful measurements can be collected. Measurements which deliver actionable rather than anecdotal results.
To build the web site testing and evaluation system conceptual model, e-ValuWeb's experienced research and Internet team spent over two years collecting and analyzing volumes of pertinent data. We interviewed numerous web designers, webmasters, researchers and others involved in the Internet space. The results of this continuing investigation were the basis of the e-ValuWeb conceptual model described below.
The Process
The e-ValuWeb testing and evaluation process has been developed to provide a realistic, but controlled web site viewing situation. It recognizes the importance of a respondent-friendly questioning environment. The process used, which is outlined below, reflects the results of a number of alternative approaches that we have tested over time.
Monitoring with ValuTrac®
The key to an effective web site testing and evaluation system is to relate the respondent's actual web site viewing behavior, in terms of what they view - in what order and for how long - with online survey measures of web visiting, web equity and web impact.
Our development work indicates time and time again there is little correlation between a respondent's actual web site viewing behavior measured electronically and that viewing behavior measured by online survey questions.
To overcome this major limitation in the questionnaire only testing process, e-ValuWeb undertook an intensive R&D program to develop a software capability to monitor individuals' actual viewing behavior on the web site.
The outcome of this effort was the development of ValuTrac®, a patented state-of-the-art monitoring system which measures a respondent's actual web site viewing behavior in terms of what is viewed, in what order and for how long. This monitoring measurement tool doesn't require the placement of any intrusive device on the respondent's computer.

Targeting
We understand the importance of taking measurements among those people who really count - your core target market.
e-ValuWeb has created alliances with a select group of companies who can provide individuals who meet very specific target market definitions. We can sample people as broadly defined as "over 13/under 25" and as complex as "viewers of your competitor's web site at least six times in the last year ... living in the Northeast, USA".
If your target market includes present visitors to your web site, we can recruit these respondents by installing a pop-up window on your site which seamlessly links to the
e-ValuWeb server.
We prefer not to use respondent panels - if at all possible. Our experience has been that respondent panels can provide biased responses based on familiarity with the interviewing process.
